Juan Camilo received his BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia in 2017, and 2019 respectively. As a master’s student, Juan focused on research on manufacturing processes, material plasticity, damage, and failure. As a PhD he studied Mechanical Intelligence from Structural Multistability in soft robotics and soft systems.

He is currently working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Programmable Structures Lab and a lecturer for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue. His research interests include soft robotics, pre-stressed multi-stable elements, and mechanical computation. In his free time, he enjoys visiting national parks, photography, playing basketball, and dancing.
